Lesson taught by Stake Presidency

President Kartchner started our meeting with a few words to the Sisters. He stated he appreciated each one and thanked them for the color they bring to the churchboth temporally and spiritually. President Kartchner asked for some ways in which us sisters contribute to this year's theme, "Feed my sheep". Many examples were shared:

-Sisters are more apt to find those who are in need of service
-Our schedules my allow us more time to devote to service
-We have contact with more people given our wide variety of tasks
-We are more naturally involved in service with children
-We are natural nurturers

President Kartchner also warned against a few barriers we may encounter as sisters:

-We spread our time to thin and become overwhelmed
-Expect to much from ourselves and create unneeded pressure to be perfect
-Fear of rejection
-Have a hard time accepting service when needed

The main lesson, given by Sister Weitzell, the Stake Relief Society 1st Counselor, was on the inspiration of our manual this year, the simplicity of the lessons, and returning to the basics.

The manual follows our inspired theme of "Feed my sheep". The lessons are shorter and to the point leaving more time for discussion and personal experiences. The question was asked "Why do we need to go back to the basics?"

-New converts need to learn these principals
-Good review for life members who may have become complacent
-We often learn new things that were missed when attention spans were short
-Each person is at different stages in life and new insights may be gained
-It has been 12 years since the church has studied the basics

So we are encouraged to study the lesson before each Sunday. Pray, study, ponder and be ready to discuss with the sisters. This will open the spirit for personal revelation, strengthen home and family, increase faith. We have a responsibility to those around us, our children, spouses, co-workers, visit teach sisters and ourselves to be the best we can be to "Feed my sheep".
